This YA vampire series is very, very fluffy. It appears scary, but is really not at all. Jason Freeman has just moved to Malibu from Michigan and is trying to figure out his place in the school hierarchy. Soon, he is at the top thanks to being on the swimming team. He becomes friends with Brad, who is the top A-list guy, and Adam, a kind of wacky, crazy guy who is no where near the A-list. Jason starts to feel at home, but then a girl is murdered at a party he attends and suddenly he has lots of questions. He soon discovers that Brad and his stunningly hot girlfriend, Sienna, are vampires. The premise of the series is that Jason keeps getting caught up in the vampire world (almost getting himself killed in Ritual. While it is not deep and meaningful with lots of character development, it is a great light summer read. (NOTE: these are just the first three books in the series)

i thought the Vampire Beach series were Great! they were so addictive i read them all the day i got them. i would say they were the greatest series i have ever read before. i hope the series is continued. it really got me into liking vampires a lot more than i used to

ok, am i the only one annoyed that this book was reprinted as 1&2 as 1 and 3&4 as 2 when the whole series is not even out yet? I didn’t even know there was a 5 or 6, I am mad now. But surprisingly i did like this book, i was not expecting it.

Honestly, I agree with you on the Twilight Series. The books were pretty good….not her best work though. The movie sucked though. They killed the entire series.

Uhm yeah Taylor they ARE making the rest of the series into movies! 😀 They start the filming of New Moon on March 27th? Or May 30th? Something like that. & they are filming it back to back with eclipse even though they will come out at different times of course. New Moon in theaters November 20th! XD XD XD

These books are alright but omfg twilight is soooo much better 🙂 and there is no character in the world that could compete with him orr anyone else in the book, however, still a good series.

I quite enjoyed these books (especially since I’m not the age that these books are aimed at)… I wouldn’t call it writing genius, but it’s an enjoyable read… I’m hoping to borrow the 5th and 6th book off my sister once she reads it, so hopefully they’re just as good!
And yes I have read Twilight… and even though I really enjoyed Twilight, it’s not writing genius either… Bella and Edward are very irritating at times…
I really liked Adam, I thought he was great value… and I actually understood most of what he said! I personally think Belle has a bit of a soft spot for Adam, they were spending a lot of time together in the 4th book…
I have to say i disagree with this post; I personally loved this series.
Duval is a fantastic author and really got the story to flow fantastically, turning a cliche-looking-novel (i mean, c’mon, Vampire Beach? REALLY?) into a fantastic series that really could become fairly large, if only someone were to promote them better.
I highly recommend this series to my fellow Vampire fans. You will really enjoy them, and will not be disappointed!

Ruby, there is another series of vampire books called The House Of Night and its as good as the Twilight saga and the Vampire beach novels, i love them all equally. I’ve read the Twilight series over and over, but only just managed to finish The Vampire beach novels and now im waiting for the other house of night books to be on sale in the shops by me. Can’t wait!!!
Twilight is amazing!! im about to start reading these books, although i think nothing can compare to the twilight series simply because the characters have been created realisticly, though they are mostly supernatural they are real teens! thats why they are annoying at times. i hope this series has been written whith the same amount of real life personality as the twilight series has been.

Twilight didn’t become popular because of the movie, i read it even before they started filming and was obsessed with it so was pretty much everyone at my school. But im in Victoria so i dont know what it was like where you live.

if your talking about breaking dawn its absolutly EVERWHERE and its a good book, i think youll enjoy it if you liked all the others, except half the book is on Jacobs point of view and can get a bit boring at times, thats jus my oppinion though.

hi. first of all Jay, i am Australian and unfortunately the only time i have seen the fourth book (in stores such as Kmart) is when it has been conjoined with the third.
secondly. its quite sad to see the amount of people comparing this series to Twilight. one of the only reasons Twilight got so popular was because of the lead roles and the promotion by which the movie made.
i have read both Duval and Meyer’s series and i believe that although these are both YA novels about vampires, they both hold very different but very likable qualities that each and every person would relate on a different level.
i could go on and on about how over the top Twilight has become and how much the movie (and wealthy publicity) has ruined the beautiful essense throughout the 4 books.. but instead i shall end it on this note:
everyone has their own insight and imagination, and every story is unique. so instead of judging and comparing, the art of reading and writing should simply be celebrated..
I love reading and watching movies so it is quite interesting to see what they missed out the movie of Twilight from the book, i think the movie only follows the story line from the twilight book and misses some of my fav bits from the book, and cant wait for the next movie to come out
i absolutely luvd the twilight series…. i guess u could say that i am just obsessed… yup thats me all right. i read every book plus the first 12 chapters of the fifth book-midnight sun. it was amazing… its just like twilight but in edwards point of view.. my friend nathan thinks that vampire beach was better but i-celina-think that he is lying…. nothing can get better than twilight….evr… never evr….. not possible. 😀

Twilight got me started with Vamps but for all u vampire fans out there this book is awesome and twilight is to (i have read them all 3 times) but my fav vampire series is The Vampire Diaries by L.J.Smith. They are kinda like twilight but scarier much scarier.
I would definatley recomend Vampire Beach, Twilight saga and The Vampire Diaries.
by the way tht is my opinoin and i know many of you will disagree even if u havnt read the vampire diaries but i liked it better then twilight only coz it is scarier but Twilight is the Bomb! so i aint bagging it.

I recently read the fourth book in this series, and loved it. But I have not read the first three yet. I like the character of Adam, even though I don’t like films. (Go figure.) One of my favorite parts of that book was when they were playing “I Never,” and Adam was winning until Jason said “I never watched Citizen Kane,” and Adam groaned. Even I, someone who who has 0 DVD’s, have seen Citizen Kane.

Does anyone know when High Stakes and Haunted will hit the U.S.? I really want to read them and I can only find them in Europe and I can’t import them. A series called “Happy Hour at Casa Dracula” is pretty good. It’s technically not about vampires, but I still love it.

Its not that great living where i am. I wanna live someplace where its big and interesting. Queensland isnt massive but isnt tiny either. Yer i got all this series. The last one is the best (Hunted). Its pretty sweet talking to someone who lives on the other side of the world.

hey jay! i know what u mean…. in nebraska there is a city called Omaha and it is BIG!!!! there are so many tall buildings and skyscrappers. its amazing! im used to living in a big city like new york. i used to live there and i miss it so much. i luv the speed of things and seeing all of the people walking along the sidewalks… im thinking about moving back there but i dont know if i would be able to give up all of the amazing friends ive made here. new york is the most amazing place ive ever lived except paris(only for about a year and a half) it was pretty cool living right in the plaza across from the eifel tower. at night it lights up with millions of lights…. i think it would be cool to live in australia. ive only been there a couple of times. thanxs for helping me with the book info!!! ttyl!!! 😀 😀

Ive read other books but i dont think you would like them. they re way different to this. My friend has forced me to read books by Anthony horowitz. Take a look if u want.
i see what u mean by the anthony horowitz books… a lot of my friends have read some of the books. they just read them for the heck of it… not because they like them… the are kind of forced to read them… at my school, we have this system called AR(accelerated reader) and you have to read books to get points and each book is a certain amount of poind depending on the reading level. it gets hard to get point when there are no more good books left in the library… i read fast so when i check out a book with about 400 pages, i usually have it back by the next day. i finished all of the good books in the library in about the beginning of seventh grade and now i am forced to walk to the public library. i guess its good that they have really awesome books or else it would be torture for me…. i spend about and hour at the library every other day because u can only check out 5 books at a time and i usually take all of them back the next day. what exactly are those books about??? u never know, i might get interested in them….. *kisses and huggs,huggs and kisses* (its not what u think it is, I swear!!! 😀 😀 😀 😛 😛 :P) L8R, ALI8R!!!! Anthony horowitz has three different series. Alex Rider, The Power of five and Diamond Brothers. Im sure u know Alex Rider but anyway The power of five is about these kids with special abilities and r to protect the world from being destryoed by the old ones. The diamond brothers r about two brothers that solve crimes. that type of thing. To me the power of five is the best series.

Twilight is HORRIBLE!!!! Vampire Beach series is so good and addictive. the Twilight series is not all that well written when you read through it over again. I absolutely love the Vampire Beach series! But just my opinion.

Hey Tori….TWILIGHT IS SO NOT HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! Haha CAN’T believe you just said that….(: So totally torn right now. Haha Twilgiht is good but the movie was sh*t cos the director tried to put too much action and drama into a short film-I think it was short anyway. It just seemed too cramped together, like one moment Bella is meeting Edward then the next they are like all in love and stuff. Relationships don’t develop THAT quick!!!! Lol V Beach series are awesome because the plots are amazing and stuff.

The books have a better story line, not that Twilights isn’t good.
With Twilight, the only reason everybody loves it is because they all want there own Edward Cullen. The media have also influence this crazy “OMGZZZZ IM IN LOVE WITH EDWARD CULLEN”

Twilight USED to be good. Way before it became a movie and before everyone was crazy about it.
i all the six of them, the characters just got better and better each book. i’ve been reading books about vampires as long as i can remember and the vampire beach are somewhere around the top. the vampire diaries has to be one of my favourite series. but there are so many others that i love, i have literally read so many that i cant even recal the ones i own now, let alone have read.

I just finished Hunted, like, a few hours ago and i googled it because i wanted to know if there were any more in the series, i was sadly disappointed.
But hell, you guys sure kept me entertained.
Just like Vampire beach entertained me on my melbourne trip.
One word: Addictive.
I loved it to the moon and back, thought i was fantastic.
As for twilight. It will always be something i love, but i think its gone way way way OTT.
When people actually start bitting each-other..somethings not right.
There is a fine line between fantatic and obsessive.
I think in a way its kinda ruined it for me, but i still can’t wait for new moon.
But meh, this series is fan-bloody-tastic. (no pun intended)

I’ve definitely got to agree this is one of my many favourite series that also include Vampire Academy, The house of night series, Evernight, and also Twilight (I mean who can’t love Twilight?) but I find myself more obsessed over the house of night series at the moment well at least until others from the other series come out >:)
I think the truely sad thing is when you reach the end of a series and you are wanting to read more!! you find yourself wondering what to do next which may explain why I’m reading so many different series at once…

I absolutely LOVE this series, I don’t know what it is about them but they are incredibly addictive. Personally I prefer Vampire Beach to twilight, because I am a guy, and I prefer a male viewpoint. But I think that they are not closely comparable, they are very different books.

hey there! just a small note to say that i loved the vampire beach novels and they’re a great inspiration for my own series I’m working on. They’re yet-to-be-published because I still havent found an appropriate publisher to send them to (no, i havent sent letters anywhere yet. will do soon though and yes, i do have better language, punctuation, etc… when i was writing the series). I’d just like to say that you’re amongst my favourite authors and sorry to say to anyone who’s a twifan, but I no longer think the series is as great, sorry Steph.
Other great authors that I am inspired by are L.J. Smith, Stephen King, Richelle Mead (although Shadow Kissed almost broke my heart and it’s the only book I’ve read), Claudia Gray and Melissa Marr. I’m going to be sticking up a very old piece of my short-story writing (that at the time I thought was great) on my website http://lilmissmarissa.viviti.com/ so for fans of any of my favourite authors or Steph Meyer, you should take a look at it. Yes, it isn’t very well written and yes, it’s definitely out of my usual writing style but it’s the best I do in a completely different genre. If you do check it out though, please leave me a message via the contacts page and you’ll know it’ll be rising my confidence. Keep notified and I’ll hopefully, with a little luck be a properly published author by early 2011!
Also, if you have the World of Words Book 2009 turn to page 408 where you’ll see my short story (the one on my website). It was published after I entered a competition and I got a letter back announcing I hadn’t won but I was invited to publish it in a book of Australia’s best young writing talent. **i personally like twilight but im not going to be like “omg twilight is the best…blah blah blah” but then again i also dont appreciate all the dissing and stuff. what happened to the site that is suppost to be about expressing your feelings about a certain book, not being disrespectful. im disappointed.
NO, for now the last book of the vampire beach series is Hunted. Strange thing the last book Duval wrote was in 2009, its been 3 years!!! How exactly has Duval been living? Maybe he went back to his old job as a photographer. Anyway hes having the entire series republished with 2 books in 1, which makes sense since the problem with his books are that they are too small. Anyway, i have read both the Twilight saga and the Vampire Diaries. Vampire beach is the best i think, probably because i am a guy and because Vampire beach is equally divided into action and Romance. Then comes Twlight and then Vampoire Diaries. The vampire Diaries was ok for the first 4 books and then just got worse. Also maybe Duval will write another book, now that he has the entire series republished and if he has more fans he will decide to write another book. The book will probably be set in the last year of university and it will probably be about whether Jason has decided to become a vamp or not. He probably will since there are a lot more ups than downs to the transformation. Megan fox wouldn’t be a good Sienna. First of all Megan fox just looks to matrure, and too much like a bitch (She might be a good Page). For Sienna maybe Vanessa Hudgens? and Zac Efron for Jason? (only if Efron got blond higlights). Anyway Vampire beach just hasen’t been advertised enough. It would be a lot of help if someone made a film. ANYWAY THE SERIES IS EXTREMELY GOOD AND CAN BE RECOMMENDED FOR BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS FROM THE AGE OF 13 ON.

These books are alright but omfg twilight is soooo much better 🙂 and there is no character in the world that could compete with him orr anyone else in the book, however, still a good series.

I quite enjoyed these books (especially since I’m not the age that these books are aimed at)… I wouldn’t call it writing genius, but it’s an enjoyable read… I’m hoping to borrow the 5th and 6th book off my sister once she reads it, so hopefully they’re just as good!
And yes I have read Twilight… and even though I really enjoyed Twilight, it’s not writing genius either… Bella and Edward are very irritating at times…
I really liked Adam, I thought he was great value… and I actually understood most of what he said! I personally think Belle has a bit of a soft spot for Adam, they were spending a lot of time together in the 4th book…
I have to say i disagree with this post; I personally loved this series.
Duval is a fantastic author and really got the story to flow fantastically, turning a cliche-looking-novel (i mean, c’mon, Vampire Beach? REALLY?) into a fantastic series that really could become fairly large, if only someone were to promote them better.
I highly recommend this series to my fellow Vampire fans. You will really enjoy them, and will not be disappointed!

Ruby, there is another series of vampire books called The House Of Night and its as good as the Twilight saga and the Vampire beach novels, i love them all equally. I’ve read the Twilight series over and over, but only just managed to finish The Vampire beach novels and now im waiting for the other house of night books to be on sale in the shops by me. Can’t wait!!!

Twilight is amazing!! im about to start reading these books, although i think nothing can compare to the twilight series simply because the characters have been created realisticly, though they are mostly supernatural they are real teens! thats why they are annoying at times. i hope this series has been written whith the same amount of real life personality as the twilight series has been.

if your talking about breaking dawn its absolutly EVERWHERE and its a good book, i think youll enjoy it if you liked all the others, except half the book is on Jacobs point of view and can get a bit boring at times, thats jus my oppinion though.

hi. first of all Jay, i am Australian and unfortunately the only time i have seen the fourth book (in stores such as Kmart) is when it has been conjoined with the third.
secondly. its quite sad to see the amount of people comparing this series to Twilight. one of the only reasons Twilight got so popular was because of the lead roles and the promotion by which the movie made.
i have read both Duval and Meyer’s series and i believe that although these are both YA novels about vampires, they both hold very different but very likable qualities that each and every person would relate on a different level.
i could go on and on about how over the top Twilight has become and how much the movie (and wealthy publicity) has ruined the beautiful essense throughout the 4 books.. but instead i shall end it on this note:
everyone has their own insight and imagination, and every story is unique. so instead of judging and comparing, the art of reading and writing should simply be celebrated..
I love reading and watching movies so it is quite interesting to see what they missed out the movie of Twilight from the book, i think the movie only follows the story line from the twilight book and misses some of my fav bits from the book, and cant wait for the next movie to come out

Twilight got me started with Vamps but for all u vampire fans out there this book is awesome and twilight is to (i have read them all 3 times) but my fav vampire series is The Vampire Diaries by L.J.Smith. They are kinda like twilight but scarier much scarier.
I would definatley recomend Vampire Beach, Twilight saga and The Vampire Diaries.

Vampire Beach is AWESOME!!
I recently read the fourth book in this series, and loved it. But I have not read the first three yet. I like the character of Adam, even though I don’t like films. (Go figure.) One of my favorite parts of that book was when they were playing “I Never,” and Adam was winning until Jason said “I never watched Citizen Kane,” and Adam groaned. Even I, someone who who has 0 DVD’s, have seen Citizen Kane.
I have heaps of DVDs and neva heard of that movie until i read the book and i still havent watched it

Does anyone know when High Stakes and Haunted will hit the U.S.? I really want to read them and I can only find them in Europe and I can’t import them. A series called “Happy Hour at Casa Dracula” is pretty good. It’s technically not about vampires, but I still love it.

hey jay! i know what u mean…. in nebraska there is a city called Omaha and it is BIG!!!! there are so many tall buildings and skyscrappers. its amazing! im used to living in a big city like new york. i used to live there and i miss it so much. i luv the speed of things and seeing all of the people walking along the sidewalks… im thinking about moving back there but i dont know if i would be able to give up all of the amazing friends ive made here. new york is the most amazing place ive ever lived except paris(only for about a year and a half) it was pretty cool living right in the plaza across from the eifel tower. at night it lights up with millions of lights…. i think it would be cool to live in australia. ive only been there a couple of times. thanxs for helping me with the book info!!! ttyl!!! 😀 😀

i see what u mean by the anthony horowitz books… a lot of my friends have read some of the books. they just read them for the heck of it… not because they like them… the are kind of forced to read them… at my school, we have this system called AR(accelerated reader) and you have to read books to get points and each book is a certain amount of poind depending on the reading level. it gets hard to get point when there are no more good books left in the library… i read fast so when i check out a book with about 400 pages, i usually have it back by the next day. i finished all of the good books in the library in about the beginning of seventh grade and now i am forced to walk to the public library. i guess its good that they have really awesome books or else it would be torture for me…. i spend about and hour at the library every other day because u can only check out 5 books at a time and i usually take all of them back the next day. what exactly are those books about??? u never know, i might get interested in them….. *kisses and huggs,huggs and kisses* (its not what u think it is, I swear!!! 😀 😀 😀 😛 😛 :P) L8R, ALI8R!!!! Anthony horowitz has three different series. Alex Rider, The Power of five and Diamond Brothers. Im sure u know Alex Rider but anyway The power of five is about these kids with special abilities and r to protect the world from being destryoed by the old ones. The diamond brothers r about two brothers that solve crimes. that type of thing. To me the power of five is the best series.

Twilight is HORRIBLE!!!! Vampire Beach series is so good and addictive. the Twilight series is not all that well written when you read through it over again. I absolutely love the Vampire Beach series! But just my opinion.

Hey Tori….TWILIGHT IS SO NOT HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! Haha CAN’T believe you just said that….(: So totally torn right now. Haha Twilgiht is good but the movie was sh*t cos the director tried to put too much action and drama into a short film-I think it was short anyway. It just seemed too cramped together, like one moment Bella is meeting Edward then the next they are like all in love and stuff. Relationships don’t develop THAT quick!!!! Lol V Beach series are awesome because the plots are amazing and stuff.

The books have a better story line, not that Twilights isn’t good.
With Twilight, the only reason everybody loves it is because they all want there own Edward Cullen. The media have also influence this crazy “OMGZZZZ IM IN LOVE WITH EDWARD CULLEN”

Twilight USED to be good. Way before it became a movie and before everyone was crazy about it.
i all the six of them, the characters just got better and better each book. i’ve been reading books about vampires as long as i can remember and the vampire beach are somewhere around the top. the vampire diaries has to be one of my favourite series. but there are so many others that i love, i have literally read so many that i cant even recal the ones i own now, let alone have read.

I just finished Hunted, like, a few hours ago and i googled it because i wanted to know if there were any more in the series, i was sadly disappointed.
But hell, you guys sure kept me entertained.
Just like Vampire beach entertained me on my melbourne trip.
One word: Addictive.
I loved it to the moon and back, thought i was fantastic.
As for twilight. It will always be something i love, but i think its gone way way way OTT.
When people actually start bitting each-other..somethings not right.
There is a fine line between fantatic and obsessive.
I think in a way its kinda ruined it for me, but i still can’t wait for new moon.
But meh, this series is fan-bloody-tastic. (no pun intended)

these book are the awesomee as first vampire book series i have ever read
I’ve definitely got to agree this is one of my many favourite series that also include Vampire Academy, The house of night series, Evernight, and also Twilight (I mean who can’t love Twilight?) but I find myself more obsessed over the house of night series at the moment well at least until others from the other series come out >:)
I think the truely sad thing is when you reach the end of a series and you are wanting to read more!! you find yourself wondering what to do next which may explain why I’m reading so many different series at once…
Also I was wondering whether anybody has read the Morganville vampires series and if its worth reading?
i hav been looking 4 the morganville vampires but i cant find them any where my friend has read them and likes them. she told me the vampires r the bad guys. p.s i loved the house of night series 2 😉

I absolutely LOVE this series, I don’t know what it is about them but they are incredibly addictive. Personally I prefer Vampire Beach to twilight, because I am a guy, and I prefer a male viewpoint. But I think that they are not closely comparable, they are very different books.

Helloooo…I stumbled upon this site coz I was lookin 4 info about wether or not Vampire Beach was made into a movie, and by the sounds of it here it hasnt …yet (sadly). It would be so cool if it was tho…because ALL the characters in the book are SO cool..esp Adam! 🙂 Whoever decides to direct it I think should just stick to the book…cant go wrong there. I loved all the books. I loved it so much I found myself reading all your comments on here. And in saying that…did ramdomness and stuff ever get to meet up with Jay? I was just curious 🙂 Cheers.
hey there! just a small note to say that i loved the vampire beach novels and they’re a great inspiration for my own series I’m working on. They’re yet-to-be-published because I still havent found an appropriate publisher to send them to (no, i havent sent letters anywhere yet. will do soon though and yes, i do have better language, punctuation, etc… when i was writing the series). I’d just like to say that you’re amongst my favourite authors and sorry to say to anyone who’s a twifan, but I no longer think the series is as great, sorry Steph.
Other great authors that I am inspired by are L.J. Smith, Stephen King, Richelle Mead (although Shadow Kissed almost broke my heart and it’s the only book I’ve read), Claudia Gray and Melissa Marr. I’m going to be sticking up a very old piece of my short-story writing (that at the time I thought was great) on my website http://lilmissmarissa.viviti.com/ so for fans of any of my favourite authors or Steph Meyer, you should take a look at it. Yes, it isn’t very well written and yes, it’s definitely out of my usual writing style but it’s the best I do in a completely different genre. If you do check it out though, please leave me a message via the contacts page and you’ll know it’ll be rising my confidence. Keep notified and I’ll hopefully, with a little luck be a properly published author by early 2011!
Also, if you have the World of Words Book 2009 turn to page 408 where you’ll see my short story (the one on my website). It was published after I entered a competition and I got a letter back announcing I hadn’t won but I was invited to publish it in a book of Australia’s best young writing talent. It’ll be way out of date considering it was back when I was a Steph Meyer fan and it was before I’d even imagined about writing a series! G2G but ttfn and all the best for the future!

Yeah the Vampire acadamy series is really good, iv gotten all the ones that have come out so far(5), the last one in Rose’s perspective comes out in December.
Spirt Bound came out a month ago and i like read it in 2 day, the’re really addictive but the vampire beach book are just as good.

NO, for now the last book of the vampire beach series is Hunted. Strange thing the last book Duval wrote was in 2009, its been 3 years!!! How exactly has Duval been living? Maybe he went back to his old job as a photographer. Anyway hes having the entire series republished with 2 books in 1, which makes sense since the problem with his books are that they are too small. Anyway, i have read both the Twilight saga and the Vampire Diaries. Vampire beach is the best i think, probably because i am a guy and because Vampire beach is equally divided into action and Romance. Then comes Twlight and then Vampoire Diaries. The vampire Diaries was ok for the first 4 books and then just got worse. Also maybe Duval will write another book, now that he has the entire series republished and if he has more fans he will decide to write another book. The book will probably be set in the last year of university and it will probably be about whether Jason has decided to become a vamp or not. He probably will since there are a lot more ups than downs to the transformation. Megan fox wouldn’t be a good Sienna. First of all Megan fox just looks to matrure, and too much like a bitch (She might be a good Page). For Sienna maybe Vanessa Hudgens? and Zac Efron for Jason? (only if Efron got blond higlights). Anyway Vampire beach just hasen’t been advertised enough. It would be a lot of help if someone made a film. ANYWAY THE SERIES IS EXTREMELY GOOD AND CAN BE RECOMMENDED FOR BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS FROM THE AGE OF 13 ON.
