I accidentally read this book before reading Storm Born, the first in the series.  However, I was able to pick up on the story quickly and figure out what is going on.  Eugenie is half fey, half human and was raised by her step-father to be a shaman and send Otherworld creatures back to where they came from.  But there is another side to her that her family doesn’t know about….she is also a Faerie Queen.  She did not want that to happen, but it did and in Thorn Queen she must come to terms with who she is and what she wants to do with her life.  She is a very strong character who is really struggling to determine what is right and what is wrong.  She was raised a certain way and now she is finding out that the world is not quite so black and white.  Toss in a dash or three of romance and you have a great story.  Now I’m going to go back and read the first one!

And in the 4th book in the Otherworld Series, we are back to Camille’s point of view.  She is realyl grappling with a lot.  She has a unicorn crown prince who wants to offer her a horn of unparalleled powers and a dragon who is hot to get her into his bed.  Add to that her still erratic magic and you have a recipe for disaster.  But CAmille and her sisters are a strong team and together they go after the 3rd spirit seal.  But along the way Camille must make some difficult decisions and decide what path she wants her life to take.  What I really like about this series is a) each book is told from different points of view, b) each sister must battle both inner and outer demons c) the characters continue to develop as the books progress and d)there is a lot of kicking butt and taking names

Menolly is a vampire and is the 3rd sister of the D’Artigo’s.  She was ravaged by a band of evil vampires and turned against her will.  Now she is fighting to control her urges and help her sisters find the missing spirit seals.  This book is told from her point of view.  I like Menolly the best of the three I think because she has had to make such an adjustment to her life.  She wants to be good, but she is constantly at war with her body because of her blood lust.  The only think I don’t really care for are her braids.  I want her to wear her hair down, but I totally get why she had the braids.  I just don’t think it is pretty.  Now she has to face her toughest opponent yet, her sire, Dredge.  She and her sisters are out to take him down when he starts turning people into vampires all over hte city.  She will have to face her fears and go head to head with Dredge in order to save the world.

On a side note, I love her name, the only other time I have seen this name is in Ann McCAffrey’s Dragon books, Menolly is a musician.

The second book in the D’Artigo sisters Otherworld Series, this one is told from the point of view of Delilah.  Delilah is a weretabby and changes into her cat from during the full moon and when she gets upset.  Packed with adventure and romance, Delilah and her sisters must continue to find the missing spirit seals.  But, before then can get to work on that, Delilah is asked to help out a local were Puma tribe whose members keep being murdered.  Add her new romance with FBH (fully born human), Chase to the mix and you have a great story.  Delilah is very funny, especially when she shifts to tabby form.  Very optimistic, she is a glass half-full kind of girl, but before too long, she will be called upon to make a life changing decision.

Card is back with another book from the Ender universe.  This story takes place immediately following Ender’s Game, but before Speaker of the Dead.  Ender has won the war, but he and his family realize that he cannot go back to earth.  So he and his sister, Valentine, travel to the colonies where Ender will become Governor.  Unlike in the other books, this book delves deeply into the immediate aftermath of the war and the journey to the colony.  We meet new people and Ender encounters more people who try to thwart him.  This is a great series.  I truly enjoyed this peak into the time that has never before been covered.
