The most recent in the Drakon series, these two books deal more with the ofspring of the characters from Smoke Thief.  Though not as engrossing as the first two, these two were satisfying.  I am hoping the next book will be the final in the series.  The characters and world Abe has created are rich and interesting, but the plat is sometimes confusing.  She will flip from one voice to another, but the other mysterious drakon voice is never identified.  Will it be or are we meant to think it is a general thought shared by all drakon?

Having read the Slightly series, I was curious if any of her other series were any good.  The Huxtable series is just as engrossing as the Slightly series.  This is a four book series, with the last book set to come out in December 2009.  Each book takes one of the Huxtable siblings and tells their story.  This is the 3rd in the series and is the story of hte eldest, Margaret.  She is considered a spinster at 29 and though beautiful, has never married.    She brags to an old love that she is indeed engaged (though she is not) and now must find a husband.  Enter Duncan, Earl of Sheringford.  He too is in need of a wife and thinks that Margaret just might due.  Under the most unusual circumstances, the two being a courtship.   Margaret is warned away due to Duncan’s scandalous past, but she does not let rumors stop her from discovering more about a most intriguing man.

This is the newest in the Immortality Bites series.  Fluffy chick lit vamp books, this one features the heroine, Sarah Dearly, caught in yet another life or death scenario.  Sarah has only been a vampire for 10 weeks, but she already has been dubbed the Slayer of Slayers and now has a curse upon her head which makes her act like vampires of old.  But luckily, she has her hunky boyfriend to rely on and her friends (that is if she can keep her fangs out of them).  Though not the best of the vampire books out there, it is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

In Percy’s final battle, he must beat Kronos and save the Greek Gods.  While the other books have been great, this book was phenomenal.  Riordan keeps you on the edge of your seat til the very end.  Old friends reappear, but many are lost to the battle.  This book is as epic as the Lord of the Rings Trilogy or even Harry Potter.  ( I know I can’t believe I just said that either).  Percy is a  strong character that is very likable.  While everything does not turn out as expected, it made me feel satisfied.  Although it looks like Riordan might be angling for another series.

Having read most of Briggs’ other works, I was excited to read this one as well.  Set in a medieval type world, When Demons Walk is a story about a magician.  Sham is a magician thief who is recruited by the ruler to find a demon that is killing people off every 8 days.  Posing as his mistress, Sham must discover what it is and how to stop it.  This is a tightly woven story with rich characters and a great plot.  I found out that there are two other books set in this same world.  However, none of them are prequels/sequels.  They are all stand alone.  Which is too bad.  Hopefully Briggs will write more, but I know she already has a lot on her plate with all her other series.

Millie, the daughter of Emma (the original princess from the Frog Princess series) is part girl part dragon.  Whenever she gets angry, she turns into a dragon and then must wait til she calms down before returning to normal again.  On her birthday, after freaking out her grandparents by turning into a dragon,  she decides to go on a quest to find a way to control her dragon side.  She and her friends have lots of fun and adventure and in the end Millie learns about herself.  It looks like we should see another about Millie because her story is definitely not finished.

This is a fun start of a new vampire series for teens.  Gina Covello dies in a horrible car crash only to discover that the boy she had been necking with at prom was actually a vampire and now she’s one too!  She is happy, but grossed out all at once.  And there is no time to learn all about her new vamp skills because the woman who created her new boyfriend Bobby is now out to build her own vampire zombie and take over the world.  It is up to Gina and Bobby to stop it (while still looking good of course).  This is a totally fun series that will be a big hit with anyone who likes vampire books.  And ya gotta love the cover.
