I should be ashamed of myself for not having read this sooner as it has been on my list for quite sometime, but things do get in the way (so many books so little time). In any event, I finally got to it and loved it as I thought I would. Marr crafts a dark, urban fantasy that is vibrant and richly depicted. Aislinn has always been able to see faeries, but her grandmother has taught her to ignore them. Unfortunately, she catches the attention of the Summer King himself and it turns out that she might be the only one who can break the curse on him. Soon she is developing weird powers and trying to make sense of this strange new world. Ash must learn who she is and what she must do if she is to meet her destiny. Marr’s work is dark, but not bleak and reminds me a lot of Holly Black’s work.
